What is NIL?NIL refers to a student-athlete earning compensation in exchange for the use their name or picture. As of July 1, 2021, the NCAA permits a student-athlete to earn compensation in exchange for participating in NIL activities. NIL activities may include, but are not limited to: social media endorsements, commercials, appearances, autograph signings, and other business activities. Additionally, in May 2021 the Oregon Legislature passed a law protecting a student-athletes right to earn compensation from NIL activities. The state law became effective on June 29, 2021.

What is prohibited under the NCAA NIL policy?Subject to state law, the following is prohibited under the new interim policy: NIL agreement without quid pro quo (e.g., compensation for work not performed). Student-athlete NIL agreements should include the expected NIL deliverables by a student-athlete in exchange for the agreed upon compensation and student-athletes must be compensated only for work actually performed. NIL compensation contingent upon enrollment at a particular school. For example, institutions should not use NIL arrangements to improperly induce matriculation (e.g., guaranteeing a particular NIL opportunity upon enrollment); Compensation for athletic participation or achievement. Athletic performance may enhance a student-athlete’s NIL value, but athletic performance may not be the “consideration” for NIL compensation. Institutions providing compensation in exchange for the use of a student-athlete’s name, image or likeness.

Are my membership fees tax deductible?No. Ducks Rising is not a charitable organization and your membership fees are not tax deductible. Your monthly subscription gives you access to all the exclusive content made available on Ducks Rising.

How do I cancel my membership?We are sorry to see you go! You may cancel your membership at any time by accessing your subscriptions page on your personal profile. You will continue to have access to the membership sections of the platform until the end of your billing period.

How do you choose which athletes you work with?Ducks Rising has sole discretion in determining which athletes it chooses to work with. We will, however, listen first-and-foremost to our subscribers in making this determination and will make every effort to solicit feedback. Additionally, we are committed to working with athletes from across all Oregon athletic programs
