Recruiting Roundup

It’s been two weeks since the last iteration of a weekly roundup and Oregon has had a ton of news across the two major sports, recruiting, and other big updates. Let’s dive in!

Trio of Priority Recruits announce their commitments

Travis and I continued to tell members that Oregon was a serious dark horse to land 2026 5-Star EDGE Anthony “Tank” Jones, and that came to fruition on July 31st, when he announced his verbal commitment to Dan Lanning and the Ducks.

2026 4-Star DB Davon Benjamin followed suit with Jones on August 2nd, over some competition from the Michigan Wolverines.

It wasn’t all positive however. As recruitments often do, things seemingly flipped a switch for 2026 4-Star DL Deuce Geralds a day before his commitment on August 2nd. The Ducks were firmly in the lead before a major charge from Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers changed that quickly. Geralds would ultimately choose the Tigers and stay closer to home.

Oregon MBB Recruiting Updates:

Dana Altman and staff have been busy for most of this recruiting cycle, and that remains unchanged over the past two weeks. Oregon made the Top 9 Schools for 2026 4-Star SF Luca Foster just today, and will visit Eugene, despite no date being finalized yet. The 6’5 185-pound wing will visit Villanova August 29th, Oklahoma September 6th, Michigan September 13th, Georgetown September 20th, Ohio State September 27th, Virginia October 4th, and also plans to visit Gonzaga, and Pitt. The final two visits to Gonzaga and Pitt, also haven’t been finalized at this time.

5-Star SF Baba Oladuton reclassified from the 2027 class, up to 2026. He holds an Oregon offer and the Ducks have been incredibly aggressive at the Small Forward position, but I do not expect them to be a finalist.

2026 4-Star Combo Guard Katrelle Harmon will announce his commitment tomorrow evening, at 8:30 ET. Harmon’s finalists are Alabama, Oregon, Creighton, Iowa, Washington, and Rutgers. I’m not very confident in the Ducks’ odds here, and would expect Harmon to land with Creighton or Iowa.

2026 4-Star Center Arafan Diane announced his top 12 schools on August 4th, including Oregon. The other finalists include: Houston, Kentucky, Kansas, UConn, Indiana, Purdue, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Virginia, and Washington. The latest buzz would support Diane landing at Houston. At this point, Arafan doesn’t have a commitment date set, and has official visits set for Kentucky, Arkansas, and Houston. He mentioned over the summer, plans to visit Oregon, but wasn’t sure on the dates yet, I’ll follow up this week.

2026 5-Star PF Christian Collins will visit Oregon September 6th, joining other high-priority visitors in 5-Star PG Taylen Kinney, 4-Star SG Adam Oumiddoch, and 5-Star SF Tajh Ariza. USC and Kentucky will also have their chance to get Collins on campus, the Trojans on August 30th, and the Cats on October 3rd.

Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks” List

This year’s edition of Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks” List features two Oregon Ducks: Kenyon Sadiq, and A’Mauri Washington. Washington checks in at No. 4 on this list, only behind Nyck Harbor (SCar), Kadyn Proctor (Bama), and Jeremiah Smith (OSU). Sadiq checks in at No. 11 and is the 5th highest ranked offensive player on this list.

Here’s what Feldman had to say about A’Mauri Washington, “ The 6-3, 338-pound Washington is of the caliber of elite D-linemen head coach Dan Lanning saw while in the SEC. His numbers made me do a triple-take when the staff sent them over. To be that massive and clock 20.89 mph and vertical jump 36 inches is mind-blowing. Washington squatted 755 pounds, bench pressed 475 and power cleaned 385. He’s coming off a season in which he had 10 tackles and 1.5 TFLs, but he figures to make a much bigger impact now that defensive tackles Derrick Harmon and Jamaree Caldwell are in the NFL.”

On Sadiq, “A junior from Idaho, Sadiq is a matchup nightmare for defenses. Last year, he took a big step forward, catching 24 passes for 308 yards and two touchdowns; both TDs were in the Big Ten title game. The 6-3 Sadiq came to Oregon two years ago at 220 pounds but is now 255. He’s much leaner this season thanks to healthier eating, which he said has enabled him to go from 12-13 percent body fat to about 10. He vertical jumped 41.5 inches this summer, power cleaned 365 pounds and bench pressed 435.”

New Fall Camp Video

The University of Oregon, in particular Football, has been undergoing a major renovation of the Hatfield-Downlin Complex. This has caused Oregon to move inside of Autzen instead of the outdoor or indoor practice fields. The Oregon Football media team released a documentary that will presumably turn into a season-long docu-series, with the theme being “Under Construction."
