Recruiting Roundup

This past week was a lot less jam-packed than in the prior two weeks, however both major sports each had their own headlines, let’s recap them.

Confirmation on Trey McNutt Injury

As TRL reported last week, true freshman safety Trey McNutt suffered a right leg injury and would miss a bulk of the season. That was eventually reported by other outlets this past week, indicating a broken leg for McNutt. However, the former 5-Star isn’t expected to miss the entire season and there is optimism he could return later in the year.

Jurrion Dickey Suspension

Travis confirmed to Ducks Rising subscribers early this week that third year wideout Jurrion Dickey was suspended from the team at this time. Given the injury to Evan Stewart, the depth of Oregon’s WR core takes a bit of a blow. I won’t get more into the specifics, but would recommend Ducks Rising subscribers to refer to Dan Lanning’s media availability earlier this week.

Another Turkish Commit for Dana Altman

Oregon Men’s Basketball has been tapping into the international pipeline over the past few years and added another Turkish player on Thursday, Efe Vatan. Vatan is a 2004-born Forward who played this past season for Galatasaray Ekmes Istanbul in Turkey’s BSL league, in particular the U-19 club. The 6 '10 forward is expected to have three years of eligibility per sources, and should supply Oregon with very quality depth, should they call on him. Efe is uber-athletic, yet likely projects more as a developmental player for the Ducks. In 31.4mpg across 30 games, Vatan averaged 16.7ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.6apg, 0.8spg, 0.8bpg, 1.4pfpg, and 2.6pfpg. He also shot 61.3% on 2-point attempts, 33.7% from 3, and 62.2% from the charity stripe.

Other MBB Recruiting News

2026 4-Star SF Cameron Holmes cancelled his September 20th visit to Oregon, and will instead be visiting North Carolina. I’m told that Holmes isn’t expected to reschedule that Oregon visit.

2026 JUCO CG KJ Perry will officially visit Oregon September 27th-28th. The Citrus College standout will also be taking official visits to SMU September 4th-6th, BYU September 11th-12th, and TCU September 19th-21st. Perry will also be unofficially visiting USC on August 25th.

2026 4-Star Center Ethan Taylor included Oregon in his top 6 schools, and will visit Eugene September 5th-7th. Taylor will take visits to each of his other top 5 schools, including: Oklahoma September 12th-14th, Indiana September 19th-21st, Kansas September 26th-28th, Michigan State October 3rd-5th, and Kentucky October 10th-12th.

MBB Scheduling News

While the full schedule likely won’t be out until September, a few games have now been released as part of Oregon’s non-conference and pre-season slate. Among those games are the December 21st matchup in Portland against Gonzaga, and the exhibition game in Eugene on October 24th against old Pac-12 foe, Utah.

Preseason AP Poll

The Preseason Polls came out earlier this week, and Oregon landed at No.7, which is respectable considering the talent lost from last year’s team. The Ducks will only face two teams ranked in the preseason polls this season, Penn State (2nd), and Indiana (20th).
