After two weeks of struggles, Oregon’s offensive line bounced back in a big way and led Oregon to a resounding 49-14 victory Saturday in Corvallis. After some encouraging signs in the second half against Boise State, Oregon started that unit from snap one against the Beavers and they looked like the group many of us expected this season. With Iapani Laloulu at Center, and Nishad Strother at Guard, the Oregon offense was balanced all game, finishing with 306 yards through the air and 240 on the ground.
The offense was the story early, going 74 yards on 8 plays, capped by a Jordan James 4-yard Touchdown run to give the Ducks an early 7-0 lead. The Ducks would finish the first half scoring touchdowns on all three drives, leading 22-14 at the break after a late Beavers Touchdown brought them within a score. From there, it was no contest, as Dillon Gabriel and the offense scored points on the next five drives to lead 49-14. After giving up 14 points and some sustained drives in the first half, the Oregon defense pitched a shutout after halftime, an encouraging sign going into Big Ten play.

Next up for Oregon is a bye week, before traveling to Los Angeles on September 28th to face the Bruins at the Rose Bowl.

“I feel like we played to our standard today. And even then the defense was a tale of two halves…A lot of it was winning first and second down. They were able to get some QB scrambles in the first half and we were kind of able to close that out in the second half… I’m really proud of our guys’ performance and I think it shows what we’re capable of doing.”
“We don’t care about the world. If you do your job, it takes care of itself. What I’m more proud of is that our guys figured out what we needed to improve on and that showed up this week.”
